It just sounds like they're throwing a party. If you don't want to go then don't go.

I'll give you that much, but I've listened to hip hop they play on 88.5 and WREK and still can't get into it. I guess because I'm not a fan it all sounds the same to me.

Why not just be a poet? Why have all the annoying samples, scratching records, and shit in the background?

I'd be down for a good poetry slam at the Archive.

The stuff of WREK sucks. Don't know about 88.5 because I don't listen to it. It's kinda tough to have a lot of good hip-hop on the air when you have to worry about FCC regulations and stuff. Most of the good stuff can't be played. I listen to a decent amount of it, nothing major, but some of the lyrics make Cannibal Corpse look like Barney. Dark and violent stuff.

because that's not what real rap is. that's like saying why can't metalheads make poetry instead of using gay ass samples and dressing in jumpsuits just because you saw a slipknot concert on tv. what ever you're hearing is a bad rep. not saying everyones going to like the real stuff either but it's at least more respectable. i haven't heard the stuff on wreck but if you're talking about samples and scratching records in the background it's not good rap almost guaranteed. it's almost harder to find people listening to good rap then good metal i think. i could try to link you to some stuff my friend makes later or something if you wanted to hear but i'm not using my normal computer so i'd have to go search for it

My bud Jeff got me into some good shit, G-Side, Yealwolf, DJ Quik. No problems with it. Shit I even have a few of those old Sugar Hill 12"s.

I hate Immortal Technique. Dude might as well walk on stage wearing a tin-foil hat.

Honestly, the rapper who I've gotten into the most recently has been the most hyped. Earl Sweatshirt. Well worth checking out, leagues ahead of the rest of OFWGKTA.

i pick up chicks wearing a Watain shirt and then put on King Diamond when they get to the crib and if they don't like it they can get the fuck out

I've been married for 7 years, so I can get laid anytime she wants.
hahahaha yeah I can get laid anytime I want!

yay for being a girl ;P

except my boyfriend won't listen to music while we're hittin it. Last time I put something on (it was Cannibal Corpse) all he could think of George Fisher and it kinda killed his buzz

as far as rap goes, I never really liked it and I am aware of the better rap that's out there. It's just not my thing. That being said, I'll still go out to places that play it. I have some friends who like to go clubbing and yeah, I go sometimes. Just because I'm not crazy about the music doesn't mean I don't have fun!

I don't know enough about hip hop or whatever to know the truly underground shit but i would definitely recommend Del, or Del the Funky Homosapien as he is sometimes known. The albums No Need for Alarm, Future Development, Both Sides of the Brain (my personal favorite), and Deltron 3030 are all fantastic. He is a master lyricist and smokes pretty much everyone out there. Deltron 3030 is a concept album about the future. He also appears on the Hieroglyphics albums 3rd Eye Vision and Full Circle which are both excellent.

Aside from that, if you like Wu-Tang then i'd recommend GZA's solo album "Liquid Swords" as it's easily the best album since "Enter the 36 Chambers" which is essential if you've never heard it.
