Just made this, I'm new this website so bare with me, but at least all the shows are in one place, now you have no excuse not to come out. I will try to keep this updated the best I can.

Never heard of either band, but the Pledge of Cain / Churches Burn show should be a good one :D

apparently the owner didn't have a license to operate shows or sell alcohol or anything of the sort so the cops came and busted him and something about jail time was mention if an other concert happens. But thats what I heard, nothing official or anything like that.

yeah, the alcohol thing was bound to get them shut down eventually... especially with their neighbors disliking them so much.

you don't need a license to do shows, you just have to be smart enough to tell the cops that it's a private party, that it's free, and if they've seen you taking money that it's donations that are divided up between the bands playing.

the July 30th show lineup is not right.

Its:

Churches Burn (from OH)
Pledge of Cain (from France)
Guzik (from Athens)
Generation of Vipers (from SC, w/ members of USX)

Still looking for a local for that show. SOT nor Wizard Smoke can do it.

Also the bands on the July 11th show are spelt:
Sons of Tonatiuh
Savagist

thanks...

just got the scoop. apparently that last hip hop show there got shut down for the afformentioned reasons... so if you have something booked there it might be a good idea to see if you can find somewhere else to do it. from what i heard there are efforts being made to still have the shows that are booked there go down but better safe then shows getting cancelled last minute

I just got out of a three hour long business meeting with the owner.

as you know, the show was canceled because the owner called and told me while I was on my way to the gallery that the show had to be canceled. the reasons are because at a past event (not one of my shows) the cops came and ticketed him for 3 reasons. the show mon was canceled because he had just gotten out of court after fighting those 3 charges, and was charged with all of them. now he is on probation, and if the cops pay him a visit while any event is going on there he is going to jail for 6 months. its called a cease and assist court order that he not do shows/events there until he has his licensing in order. the licensing part is the part where the $$ comes in. very expensive, and a not for profit is out of the question.

to make a long story short, we are looking for investors, or someone that wants to make a deal to loan us the money to get the licensing so we can keep doing shows there, this has been an on going search, and that's why we are in this situation now.

what we need from YOU GUYS, the patrons of Archive, that want the place to still host shows is to consider becoming a member.

Archive and myself are doing a special deal to help them help us, aka keep having shows. The deal is: become an Archive Gallery member by paying $35 per student or $45 per non-student membership fee each month and receive special perks like: 1/2 off (in some cases free) door price at all shows for that month (discounted balance is paid by archive to the bands), 1st beer of the night on the house, the privilege to stay late and drink, come early and hang, come anytime to do any sort of craft, or activity in which you need to utilize the space that Archive has. For example: band practice, merch organizing/printing/etc.

So, keep that in mind if any of that sounds appealing to you guys that frequent shows at Archive, and would like to take a part in being something other than just a person that comes to shows.

As for the status of the shows that I have booked at Archive and the longevity of future booking...

I have really bent over backwards and put my ass on the line to ensure that those shows which are booked will still go on.

The deal is, that I am going to be solely responsible for anything bad that may happen during the shows. So, if the cops pay a visit, and try to ticket for not having a venue license, my name is on that ticket, and I'm going to be paying for it and getting charged.

this is the price we pay for dedication, and i'm sure that any of you in my shoes would do the same. to me its not a hard decision.

This decision has come with a lot of persuasion and 'fighting' on my part to ensure that this whole thing just doesn't collapse, and Atlanta's integrity holds strong.

so, with that being said,

I am really sorry about all the confusion and having to cancel the show, but at the time it was necessary.

As soon as those licenses are in place, we will be at it bigger and better, full speed ahead, and I think you all will be happy and surprised to hear about some of the things that we have in store for you. This is just a bump in the road.

A big thank you goes out to those that support the Archive Gallery, we do this for you, and I recognize all efforts and support that has formed. For all the haters, thanks but no thanks, see ya around.

fuck you, get a life, i'm sorry you think archive is a 'hipster venue', its a multi arts facility, maybe when you actually start pulling your weight in the scene and do something productive with your sorry ass self, you'll get it. till then, fuck off.
