I'll give you "To Hell and Back." It is no "Countess Bathory." But I do find myself singing the lyrics to myself.

I'm on the fence on "Raise the Dead." There's something about it that I don't like.

"Teacher's Pet"? Sucks. "Don't Burn the Witch"? Sucks. "Leave Me in Hell"? Sucks.

I do like "Heaven's On Fire." Much, much better than that atrocious song by Kiss.

I just don't think that the album has aged very well, especially in light of it's now legendary status. I think I'd rather listen to Welcome to Hell.

Eh, that record is pretty slow. The song Black Metal is super rad, then it goes down hill fast. I'll take Morbid Tales any day over BM.

Agreed, I used to be a big Venom fan, but would much rather listen to Celtic Frost nowadays. Countess Bathory is still a badass song though. The rest I can take in small doses.

Didn't actually know Coke Bust had a new one? Must look now. Everything Low Threat Profile is awesome however. Have you heard New Lows? They are a sweet band also.

Yeah. Mine too. I was saying that to me Celtic Frost trumps Venom. Smarty pants.

Minotaur - Power of Darkness
Autopsy - Macabre Eternal (on repeat for a solid week...what a great comeback full length)

That is certainly the traditional view. But the two compliment each other nicely and it is hard for me to pick.
When I listen to RiB and SoH together, like they're part of a dbl
package, but on random in the CD player, they work extraordinarily fuckin well.

But RiB doesn't need any help. It's one of the more propulsive records ever recorded. SoH is its antithesis and I appreciate it for this, and it shows us that Lombardo's drumming can be maybe even more ominous when it's rendered at less than breakneck speed.

Agreed. And more succinctly put than I could.

There's some YouTube clip of Lombardo holdin a drum clinic somewhere and he opens it with some steady but not so fast dbl bass and these simple repititions on the mounted toms. The idea of what it is, the notion of it all is so embedded in your head that you can practically fuckin embellish the guitars and bass around it. It's like your mind completes the sentence.

Dude is in my top five drummers along with Phil Rudd, Philthy Taylor, Clive Burr, and Animosity-era Reed Mullin.
