Death Breath - all
I MUST see this fucking band live at some point in my life.
Darkthrone - Circle the Wagons
Absolutely my favorite album by this band. I know it's not a popular opinion, but for me this band just gets better as they get crustier.
Bigelf - Cheat the Gallows
What a weird combination this band is...They are from modern day LA, but they sound like the very best of English glam with prog leanings circa 1974. Brilliant stuff and not too proggy, but with hints akin to T.Rex of other "deeper" glam rock bands. Great, great shit.
Mercyful Fate - always...
BGK - A Dutch Feast
Brats (pre Mercyful Fate) - The Copenhagen Tapes (I think that's the name)
Snotty punk rock
Cannibis Corpse - the first couple, got a pre-order on the new one. Can'tfuckingwait for it and the new Toxic Holocaust. Can't. Fucking. Wait.

I liked that Demiricous a lot. I mean, I love Slayer so....Knucklehead wrote:Gillian Welch -- He'll Among the Yearlings

Demiricous -- One. I know that this got a lot of hate, but I like it.
That JL is a fucked up classic.
I've just gotten turned out to Gillian Welch by some Americana/alt-country loving friends. Where should I start?

I think that they are all worth owning. The first two, Revival and Hell Among the Yearlings, are more bluegrass/gospel type songs. I haven't heard Revival much, because the wife assumed it was a gift for her and promptly left it in her car for three years. The next, Soul Journey has some really great songs on it, but they added sessions musicians so it has more of a band feel to it. Plus, she got away from the strictly American Primitive style that they are known for. The latest, The Harrow and the Harvest just came out and I haven't had much of an opportunity to listen it. This album is definitely a return to the American Primitive style. From what I've heard, the entire album is just the two of them, with no additional musicians.badcarburetor wrote:I've just gotten turned out to Gillian Welch by some Americana/alt-country loving friends. They are coming to the Variety in August. I'm sure it will be just Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings. He is a great freakin' guitarist and I'd really recommend that you catch them, if you can.

Hell yea. Agents of Abhorrence, Fuck..I'm Dead, Blood Duster, The Kill, Extortion, The Day Everything Became Nothing, Mindsnare, Captain Cleanoff, Rort, etc...there is so much grind and hardcore coming outta there. The best is that theres about six guys that are in two or three of these groups each.
