Anyone here on it?

It's pretty badass.

I may be able to scare up an invite link if anyone is interested.

I dig it a lot. Pretty sure that Moloc and aaron are on it, too. It's neat enough to make me want to pay the $5/month.

From the website:

"Continue to Spotify.com → The award-winning music service that’s taken Europe by storm has now come to U.S. shores. Millions of tracks ready to play instantly, on your computer and your phone."

http://www.spotify.com/us/hello-america/

I've found really obscure shit on there. It's not every song ever, like it would lead you to believe, but it's pretty amazing in the diversity and depth of content.

It's a solid addition to my work computer.

For anyone who does have this installed, have you connected to FB? I'm bit nervous about that. Maybe I don't need to be?

It's connected to my I_LOVE_ZUCKERPENIS. I haven't seen a single post on my feed or anything from it. All the connection really does is let you see your friend's playlists.

Think iTunes if everything were free to stream as much as you wanted and you had 30 second ads every 6 songs or so.

Yeah but last.fm is like a radio, I thought...you can't choose what you what to listen to. With this you can pick and choose whatever. Songs, full albums, everything.

It's pretty much why the internet was invented.

So if I connect to FB, then, in theory, we could have some kind of ATL Metal group so that I can share my love of Adam Lambert with the rest of you?

No groups, but yeah, we could see your playlists just by clicking on your name.

I was on it, but I canceled my premium subscription. I wanted to be able to search by genre, but that's not possible. I also wanted to stream it through my Apple TV, but you can't do that either. Some of the classic albums I couldn't find on their either--like Ozzy era Sabbath. They had Dio Sabbath, but no classics. I found myself listening to Pandora more than Spotify. If they come up with some improvements I might rejoin.

You can type genre:nameofgenre (use quotes if more than one word, genre:"death metal") but it's not totally accurate. For example searching death metal yielded Hypocrisy, Cathedral, Destroyer 666, Napalm Death, Brujeria, Obituary, Bathory... then crap like Carnifex, August Burns Red, Whitechapel, etc.

I haven't seen any reason to upgrade from the free version. The commercial haven't bothered me yet, but I've also not upgraded on Pandora and I've been listening to it everyday at work for years. The only real advantage that I've seen would be the mobile app version for $10 a month, but I'm not sure if the upgrade is really necessary for that function. Time will tell...
