Got a label or link for this? I love these guys. Wish they'd make it down here to play.

Skitliv - Skandinavisk Misantropi:
I really thought this was going to suck from one end to the other, but holy shit, even as a lifelong lover of Mayhem in all its incarnations, this may be my favorite thing Maniac has ever done. Towering, droning riffs, delirious psychobabble lyrics that seeth with disgust and evangelical rabidity, and panoramic space that allows for unblinking meditation -- if you're inclined toward that sort of thing. Finally an album that compels me to restart it immediately upon its final disintegrating notes. Just fucking stellar. (The fact that David Tibet is on here was a revelatory surprise.)

Belphegor - Black Magick Necromance:
Finally jumped on the bandwagon after hearing enough praise about it. Makes me forget every mediocre album since Goatreich. "Rise to Fall and Fall to Rise" is my favorite song of theirs since, like, 2005.

Fields of the Nephilim - Earth Inferno:
Great live album from one of the heaviest and most visceral goth bands.

Current 93 - Honeysuckle Aeon:
They never disappoint. Hallucinatory as ever.

Lost Soul - Immerse in Infinity:
Blows every other recent Polish death metal album out of the water. I hasten to add I've never been a big Vader fan, though. Still, this thing is a colossus.

Spite Extreme Wing - everything:
An infuriatingly overlooked black metal band. Their album Vltra is some kind of progressive rock/black metal hybrid that sounds unlike anything else I've heard.

The Gathering - How to Measure a Planet:
Heroin music for drifting purposes.

That album rules.

Oh, also been listening to that ICS Vortex solo thing. Really digging it so far, but seems like something that will get better with repeated listens. His voice seems to stay in the higher register throughout, which is a good thing. If you liked that weird "The Presence is Ominous" song from Quintessence (which I did, massively), you sorta know what to expect. Short songs that are over before you know it but that make you want to listen again. Or maybe I've just had too much coffee.

Oh, hell yeah. The "prettiest" doom metal I've ever heard. And fronted by Eddie "Bed Wetter" Vedder too.

HAH! Spot on. I've been spinning this record the past few days too. It's 'beautiful' and I hate that fucking word for music. But it works.

The Axis of Perdition- Physical Illucinations In The Sewer Of Xuchilbara... (The Red God) & Deleted Scenes from the Transitional Hospital

Tommy turned me on to these guys a while back but lately I've been on an intensive listening kick. Silent Hill themed atmospheric quasi-industrial hellscapes in my black metal? yes please. These are great albums to listen to at night by yourself from beginning to end. some seriously awesome stuff

Their two best in my opinion. I can't get enough of all of the noise scapes and the demented shrieking vocals. They're one of just a handful of bands that I can listen to and actually be creeped out just a little bit when the mood is right. Definitely one of my favorite bands. The new one that came this summer, Tenements, is definitely worth a listen too. And I don't think I've ever heard a better description of their sound than yours. Glad you dig 'em.
