Haha... spoiled metal bands.

Shut up and play, stop bitching over lights.

I hate people smoking in venues. I tell people to go outside, even if smoking is allowed.

You're comparing apples and oranges, chief. Theatrics have always been a part of metal, from Sabbath's conscious choice to litter the stage with crosses, forward.

Isn't that a bit like saying, "spoiled orchestra, bitching about tuning because the temperature of the room keeps changing".

While it is abit bogus you see bands without the effects, I'm actually more grateful to see and hear the bands in person without the flashy snazzy stage effects than to not see them at all due to limitations. Either that, or they would just simply skip ATL all together for they would have no place to play at.

Most of the best shows I've seen have been played on the floor in a dark room with no effects. Just good aggressive raw music.

Seeing a band a band put on a performance is cool, just depends on who and where it is. I've seen a lot of bands that do both depending on where theyre at.

Though I definitely do prefer watching a band set up their gear, play, have fun, and load out.

I agree with some of that, but metal is aggressive and people mosh to metal. If you see an orchestra the only part that matters is the quality of the music. Not saying metal should be trash played as fast as possible but there are other factors involved in death and thrash type metal.

not trying to be the asshole here but yeah, maybe you have seen great sets from bands playing on grimy floors. i have too. but that's also a whole other world when the bands you love are crust punk and hardcore bands. its different. its not whining, it requires different things to have the full effect than the things you like, thats all. "hey i love apples, but i love them more when the apples are the oranges i prefer and no one bitches"

Still, everyone should just be stoked on seeing a band they love and quit finding things to complain about. especially smoking... give it a rest rob reiner, its underground music. But whatever, this thread has way too much arguing already. I'm putting up the white flag. agreeing to disagree.
