Favorite Guitar Solo

Post by nastynate » Fri November 25th, 2011, 1:28 am

I didn't see a post for this already, so what are your favorite guitar solos?
For me, in no particular order, and just the ones that really come to mind,

Candlemass-Edge of Heaven off Ancient Dreams, about 4:24 Mr. Mike Wead
King Diamond- Accusation Chair on "Them" -2:33 Mr. LaRocque I believe
Alice in Chains - Them Bones - Dirt - 1:16 Mr. Cantrell

Guess I like the sporadic, yet melodic style.
What about you?

the first real solo i ever paid attention to was Maiden's Children of the Damned. So simple but so effective, still strikes a chord with me.

I'm a child of the '80's.

Call of Ktulu
Fade to Black
Hallowed be thy Name
Raining Blood

And, Into the Void.

Forgot about that one.

Also, Clapton's molten monstrosity of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

my favorite guitar solo would probably be on samothrace's song "La Llorona " off their Life's Trade LP. they need to do another album, damnit.

i will include a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXIx1E4Md50

if you have the patience, listen to all of it. the solo is near the end so you are going to have to wait a minute (or 10).

Fuck, there's far too many to name. The last solo on King Diamond's Black Horsemen is my favorite though. Some others that come to mind are Deceased's Fearless Undead Machines, Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb, Acheron's Fuck The Ways of Christ, Massacre's Inhuman Condition, Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King. Plus, a shitload from Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Sabbath, W.A.S.P., Death, Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, and RR era Ozzy.

Slash is the fuckin' man. November Rain, the last part of Paradise City, a few others.

Always been partial to James Murphy. The solo at the beginning of Obituary's Cause of Death is probably my favorite.

He's not metal, but I kinda like Jeff Beck. Some of the shit he does with a stratocaster, a tremolo arm, and a volume knob sounds like nothing else in the world.

Another one not metal at all, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Waiting for the Bus/Jesus Left Chicago.
