i appologize for singling you out during my bitchfest..........but i stand by everything i said regarding metal.

the biggest problem everyone on this board has is no one can agree to what "metal" is. the are some bands that everyone thinks is metal but the rest everyone wants to put into little sub-genres that for some reason or another just dont hack it. thats gonna be the biggest hurdle to overcome. instead of worrying what is "metal" and what isnt. just find good, hard working local bands that are simply heavy. that everyone can agree are talented. and let your fans decide if they like them or not. not the other bands.
hope you all fucking rot

Blacklisted is a heavy band...and they arent metal...so again, putting bands that arent metal on a metal comp would be pointless.

not really. Chamberlain's charge is run-of-the-mill metalcore complete with singing parts. Maybe that fits, but do they also fit your criteria of being hard-working and talented? I think not.
Maybe future comps should be this democratic/first come first serve. But I feel that the initial Atl Metal comp should be really good and representive of the best that Atlanta has to offer. Not just a group of local bands that signed up early enough.

Basically I agree with Blaze and Neal. Also, you guys should come up with a list. I'll start.

Ground:Xero, Withered, Amoebic Dysentery, The Souls Unrest, Kshatriya, Daath, Lilitu, Mastodon(probably too hard to get), Burial Rites, Vis Vires, Package, Threat of Life, Enders Game, Demoncy, Level  , Avulsion.
I'll stop there. That's already 16, 15 because Warner will probably not allow Mastodon to be on some random comp maybe by someone local. So as we see, 20 slots isn't that many to just give out.
Add more suggestions or argue about some of mine.

Exactly, I listed a bunch of bands earlier, pretty much the same bands you just listed.

So here is an idea, why dont you people who are listing all of these bands try and contact them to see if it's somthing they would be interested in? I know a guy from DAATH and Lilitu and I just talked with them about signing up, looks like they are interested. Anyways, if you have time to list all of these bands, help us out and contact them for us, or send me an email with their contact info so I can contact them myself. I mean, I would also like to make this make represent "the best" ATL has to offer, but we here at ATLmetal.com can not do that with out your help. We have used a lot of your guys ideas and we really appreciate the help and advice. Keep it coming, and help us make this comp. a success because like we have said before, we are doing this for you, not for profit or anything like that, because we will actually be loosing money on this, but to try and help promote the local heavy scene in ATL.

Thanks guys,
Jeremy

If you have contact info for a band that you feel really needs to be on an ATL Metal Compilation email me at jeremy@atlmetal.com thanks!

i think mikes list is a good one. it includes what i feel to be the best of the atlanta scene plus a few bands that i don't like at all but at least they work hard and you could catch them playing a show around town.

If WREK has copies of Mastodon playing live @ WREK (or live @ WREKage) then you may be able to use that. I've always thought a Live @ WREKage compilation would be good.

Those aren't usable, just because they sound like ass per my understanding. The Live@WREK crew that did the Mastodon shows said they turned out horrible. I don't think the band would be happy about those performances getting out.

not to be a dick but its kinda pointless to put a well known, signed band on this. arent you trying to promote the up and comming metal artists?

I don't see any problem with putting a well known band on. It's a good hook for people who know the well known band to buy/listen to the CD. They are then exposed to other bands. You could also argue that it adds credibility to the other bands. A lot of people probably have no idea that Mastodon is from Atlanta and I think that's a problem with our scene. A band does well and then completely detaches from here - wouldn't it be nice if they could help elevate things a bit with their ascent?

I think that CDs like these should showcase what Atlanta has to offer. Popularity, etc should not be a factor. The Mastodon Live @ WREK would have been fucking golden since it would be an Atlanta band playing unique material in an Atlanta radio station. Can you try to fix that up, F'n Dan? you know, turn that chicken shit into chicken pie?

I don't know where the cds/tapes of the performances are. I'll have to do some digging. There is one Atlanta band that hasn't been mentioned yet, and conveniently enough, they've been tossing around the idea of doing a new single...hmm...another band came to mind too that might be interested, since he has new material....mmm...
