at the very least an appreciation to metal and horror movies are like the you must be this tall to ride this ride,... though also being huge fan of 80's post punk/goth, i have dated girls who were really into the cure and the smiths but not so much into what i considered metal, i can understand Burzum or even King Diamond being an acquired taste but if you can't at least hang with Iron Maiden it's not going work, i am pretty much listening to music if i am awake and once my 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee kicks in Morrissey has gotta go it's time for some Watain
i can say this policy weeds out the conservative christian types and if you take horror / metal out of the equation all i really have interest in talking about is drugs , conspiracy theories , comic books , fantasy, the occult, working out and buffy ,...which Buffy Sommers aside my experience has been most girls who are into at least 3 of those are going to like some form of harder music
though the majority of the girls i date are also on at least two forms of prescription medication

I am disappointed I didn't get to me the misses, knuck!

My wife doesn't like metal but she knows it's my shit and leaves me too it. We both like elvis, classic rock type stuff... queen, skynyrd, doors, stuff like otis redding, old country, ufo, etc. so we listen to a lot of that around the house. My daughter likes to dance around to Girlschool and Motorhead so I play that a lot too. I don't subject them to the really harsh shit but if it's not just a total wall of noise/blasting then it's fair game for family time. My wife says the same thing about it making her "anxious" which I can understand but she knows that, to me, that shit sounds awesome and she respects that.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who wound up married to a non-metalhead.

My wife can tolerate a lot. She doesn't dig much metal, but she gets why I do. Also, both of my sons are starting to gravitate towards metal to varying degrees so she's really out-numbered now. haha She was taking one of my kids somewhere and listening to Jack Johnson (yeah...I know), and my son who was like 6 at the time goes, "Moooooom, this is so boring! Can we listen to some Rock and Roll?" Needless to say that put a big smile on my face.

Oh, and as far as the "Misfit toys" are concerned...I was walking around Lenox Mall around Christmas time. Between looking at the people around me, the clothes in the stores... all of it really. All I could think was that I have absolutely no desire to ever be normal.

I think so.

btw, sorry I missed the Mangled set at this show. I was really hoping to get there in time to see you guys, but like so many things in life it just didn't work out as planned.

 this cracked me up!

Yeah I'm glad I got a boyfriend who likes metal. For the most part, we like the same shit. I was 19 & a freshman when I met him and in a phase of I-will-only-date-metalheads. Now I think I'm stuck with one
