So, really and truly, am I the only lunkhead that thinks that King Diamond is a cheeseball?

I never could get used to his voice. He's like the Frankie Valley of metal.

Seriously, y'all don't even like the early Mercyful Fate??

I suppose it's just a couple big festivals? It may have even been contractual to help attendance or some shit. Whatever the case, it's a start.

KD is cheesy but it doesn't change the fact that it's awesome. It leans way more on theatrics and being over the top... hence the cheesiness.

MF > KD imo. I've always been a WAY bigger fan of the Nuns Have No Fun EP and Melissa than anything else in King's discography.

"Cheese," "over the top," "theatrics" = METAL.

Speaking of cheese and theatrics, I really need to find my bloody apron.
Thanks,

That's why I've always liked King Diamond; the comic value transcends the music IMO. Mercyful is better musically, but King always gives me a chuckle. I remember listening to The Eye like 30 times in a row back when it came out and laughing my ass off. If you look at The Eye... it will take you back in tiiiiiime.

And what's wrong with Frankie Valli? You not down with Jersey Boys either? Heresy! And I'm Southern to the bone!

Absolutely, but those early MF tracks are enough to shoulder an entire career.
