Van Halen - 4/19

Post by Holiday Rambler » Tue January 31st, 2012, 1:08 pm

Ehh. On the fence. This is probably the last time to see EVH/DLR together outside of a courtroom.

People of Atlanta Metal, your thoughts, please.

Saw this line-up at Phillips in '08. Most I've ever paid for a ticket ($74 nosebleed seat), but so worth it. The entire set was pre 1984 and must've been just short of 2 hours. Even some unexpected tunes from Diver Down (an odd ball album to most, but one of my favorites). A little bit weird with Valerie Bertinelli Jr. on bass, but still sounded great. Not sure if I'll lay down the fat ticket price this time around, but highly recommended if you haven't seen David Lee Halen.

When I came to musical consciousness, Diver Down had just been released. Casey Kasem kept playing "(Oh) Pretty Woman" and "Dancing in the Streets" on Saturday mornings. Good times.

I will not be attending.

Indeed

I was hoping they'd continue on in the vein of Me Wise Magic too, but who cares with a setlist like...

You Really Got Me
(The Kinks cover)
I'm the One
Runnin' With the Devil
Romeo Delight
Somebody Get Me A Doctor
Beautiful Girls
Dance The Night Away
Atomic Punk
Everybody Wants Some!!
So This Is Love?
Mean Street
Oh, Pretty Woman
Drum Solo
Unchained
I'll Wait
And The Cradle Will Rock...
Hot For Teacher
Little Dreamer
Little Guitars
Jamie's Cryin'
Ice Cream Man
Panama
Guitar Solo
(Eruption, Cathedral, Spanish Fly, and who knows what else)
Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
1984
Jump

Enough of my Van Halen love. Just go to the show if, like me, you weren't quite old enough to see the original original lineup.

Man, if that's the case I might have to make it happen... depends on the ticket price tho

I saw some of the ticket prices and was like "fuck no!" It's like 1600 for a floor seat. haha 60 bucks for a nosebleed. I fucking love Van Halen though... that set list rules. Wish Hang 'Em High was on there!

Would definitely be lifting my lighter to Little Dreamer :')

I remember seeing them as a little kid and was blown away by them. That was like more than 30 years ago. I don't have enough nostalgic feelings for them now though. If they played the Archive for $15 I'd go.

For real. EVH pretty much invented being awesome at guitar, but that new song was so incredibly disappointing. Van Hagar would've never put out something that bad.

Very much on the fence about checking this out...

I think he meant $160...at least that was the most pricey I saw. The cheapest ones left are $58.
