Yeah, Sting is an idiot for ditching the Police for his uber vanilla solo career. Stuart Copeland was a nutty drummer too, and Sting's bass was actually interesting. Police fan or not, how does a guy go from making interesting music to bland boring shit and be happy with it? He would have the money either way, so that's not it. He must have influenced Metallica in some way or another.stewvee wrote:John Taylor plays fractal figures on his bass!!!! OMG!!!
Ah, if you really want to push the envelope, check out Andy Summers' guitar playing. It's not Metal. But it's out there.
I'm so afraid. Wolf knows where I am.
I saw Stewart Copeland do a drum clinic at Atlanta Pro Percussion sometime around the Synchronicity rec. Everyone thought he was going to do a crazy solo like all the other pros did. He just sat there and played this killer fast, driving beat for like 20 mins, then stopped. Everyone went nuts. And then he was like, that's the hardest thing to do: to play simply, with great intensity, and not fuck up. I remember this really tall longhair going, WHOA, ZEN. I guess it kinda wuz.

This morning I've spun Tables Will Turn by Take Offense a couple times. Very decent throwback hardcore. Thanks for turning me onto it, whoever posted about that show.
Otherwise, it's been a lot of various Anna Ternheim, Tangerine Dream, Mercyful Fate, the new COC (blah), the new VH (Some is pretty decent and growing on me -what a happy surprise - but that "Tattoo" song is still super annoying.), some Cocktail Slippers and Breakers tracks (both thanks to that show Lilyhammer), the most recent Autopsy record is killer throwback death metal, Chain of Strength (need to get my finger pointing on in the car), the new Christian Mistress LP Possession is a huge letdown after their monstrous debut...
That about covers the weekend, I suppose...
