King Dude. It's great. Sounds like a mix of Di6 and Wovenhand. Apparently he's in that band Book of Black Earth. Went from the stereotypical 'metal' look to the standard neofolk/martial industrial look. Proof that even trendhoppers can make great music (referring to KD, not that trash BoBE).

MGLA - With Hearts Towards None. Album of the year.

Ramones. Never really liked em before. That's all changed now. Can't get enough.

Fair enough. I'll check it out. I'm stoked to hear "new" GBH. I <3 the classics so much that I've always feared sullying my image of them by listening to potentially crappy, uninspired later efforts.
I gave this a listen yesterday. It's really good. Started off a bit thin, but by the the end it was straight up GBH. It may not replace either City Baby in my rotation, but it's a welcome addition.

Last week or so:

Tank - War Nation
I was pretty nervous spinning this because I'm really into their old Motorhead x Cockney Rejects sound. It's a good album, even if some of the songs really could have used some trimming. Doesn't have the gritty rawness of their best stuff, but for a reunion album thirty years on, it's pretty decent. Reminds me of solo Dio. Not totally my thing, but it could be far worse.

P!NK - various

Jesus and Mary Chain - various

Motorhead - tons - Saw them play last week. Sucks that it was in the middle of the day, but whatever. It was still badass.

Vio-lence - Oppressing the Masses and Eternal Nightmare - this is on of those bands that I never get burned out on. Sean Killian's vocals are of the love 'em or hate 'em sort and I love 'em.

Bane - various

Lionheart - Both bands with this name, the oi band and the HC band. I dig both. Where can I score vinyl? I think there was at least one more band with that name that had Dennis Stratton in it?

Razor - Decibels - Terrible album cover - one over used drumbeat - still entertaining.

Martyrdod - Lindsay, have you checked this out? Great blackened Swedish dbeat.

Paradise Lost - the first three

Deathevokation - The Chalice of Ages

T(I)NC - Armed Love and The Cross of My Calling - never gets old

Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power

King Diamond - Abigail

Vektor - Outer Isolation - One of the only "techy" bands I can stand.

OFF! - OFF! - I like the new album way more for having heard it live.

Aimee Man - @#&%*! Smilers

BOC - the first three

Din Brad - Dor

Bonded by Blood - The Aftermath

Furze - Psych Minus Space Control

Christian Death - Only Theater of Pain

Exhumed - All Guts, No Glory

Suicide Machines - Destruction by Definition

Purified in Blood - Flight of the Dying Sun

Sepultura A.D. - Chaos A.D.

New Medicine - Race You to the Bottom

Enabler - Year One

Mutilation Rites - Devoid

How is this one? I've only listened to Necromanzee Cogent, which is ... weird.

Honestly, it didn't stick with me very much on first listen. I was hoping for psych-ish dark metal, but it didn't really hit me that way. More like leftover early period Sabbath riffs that didn't really gel into memorable songs. I also didn't dig how "loose" the drums sounded, kinda like they would on a boombox recorded practice session.

I think I'll try a second spin.

It's on Spotify, if you want a try-before-you-buy.

I gave it a half-hearted listen last night. For all the talk about Sabbath, I don't hear it. I think I'll stick to the earlier, bizarre, black metal stuff.

past month has been full of joy division, brand new, modest mouse, and even Radiohead's kid A. getting into the cure and the smiths, too. as far as hardcore goes, I'm really digging Mother of Mercy
