It's pretty much the same Caliban sound, but watered down and with more singing.

morbid angel? thats it? thats what all metal is based on? you got to be kidding me. have you bought a cd from a new band since 1995? there is alot of new shit out there. keep to your "metal" standards. soon enough every new band you like will be a big joke just like guns and roses and kiss gettin back together. your tellin me there isnt a new band that does anything for you? black dahlia ? martyr ad? anything?
hope you all fucking rot

NU and NEW are entirely different things.

Black Dahlia Murder are NEW, however they are pretty much a 2nd rate ATG clone, which I think makes them disliked.

I think NU is to represent bands that have slappy bass lines, rap parts, dropped tuning (duh-duh duh-duh) riffs, lyrics that have a word or phrase repeated several times, gradually getting louder....things like that

Also, as a rule, ANY band that encourages an audience to "JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!" is AUTOMATICALLY not metal! Carcass could do this and it would pretty much cancel their metalness.

And I think theres a lot of animosity for numetal, because during the time when it thrived (Korn, Limp Bizkit...), the underground death/black/thrash metal scene was at an all time low in the US. The bands writing good songs, playing their instruments with skill, and actually pushing the boundaries of extremity and human endurance were taking a big backseat to bands playing simple riffs in dropped tuning showing off their new adidas sweatsuits.

Well, this killed off a good few minutes at work...

Every band after At the Gates copies them to some extent. I'm not defending Black Dahlia, I'm just saying its more than them doing it. But I do happen to enjoy them.

I personally dont find it hard not to play nu metal or metalcore. Maybe it just comes naturally but I dont find it difficult.
