Vreid is really, really fucking good and very different from the average. You've checked out Windir, too, right? If not, get on that. Read up on why the band changed names. It's great black metal lore.Moloc wrote:I just discovered Vreid on MetalCorpse radio.
WEEP - Everything by this band and nothing else. How did I never hear of them earlier?? My life was empty and meaningless until now. At least this uninterupted diet of WEEP is the perfect soundtrack to squandered melancholy.

Wold - Freermasonry
I use Wold to scrape out the brain pan after a harrowing experience such as visiting my mother. It kind of re-calibrates everything and gets me back on track. But the other night it came up in the shuffle while I was driving to a friend's house and using MapQuest. So the skull scraping noises are scraping away, then it drops out and the MapQuest lady says "In 200 yards, turn left." *skull scraping skull scraping* "In 100 yards, turn left." *scrape scrape scrape scrape* "Turn left." It was like if the GPS had an Eraserhead setting.

I usually skip it if it comes up in the shuffle. But as soon as a visit with my mother (or sister) (or god help me, both of them) is well and truly over, I can't inject the Wold into my head fast enough. It's like a brillo pad. Scrub scrub scrub the pain away.stewvee wrote:So that's what Wold is for...
Maybe that's why all those Japanese noise guys couple their "music" with S&M/BDSM.

Man, you are on a Mac machine, right? Shame. I have all that shit on my soulseek account.I LOVE RLYL. Great shit. Should have been huge. Spotify is great for a lot of that shit, too. Who cares if you can't DL it if it's always on demand?
I found two WEEP songs on Spotify and by the end of the first song I had ordered the entire catalog from ProjektRecords.com. It's seriously the best thing that I've heard in years. Go look up on YouTube a few songs like Snow Scenery and Lay There and Drown and you, too, will be willing to pay for the catalog. Fuck it's so good. Start with the Worn Thin album. It's the kind of melancholy that makes me want to hang myself while dancing at a deathrock night that's somehow out in the warm rain late, late at night.
