Science and religion are not incompatible, even though there are plenty of folks on either side of the fence that refuse to think so.

And I don't think literal interpretations of scriptural ideas benefit atheist or theists.
They're very compatible if people on either side would understand that science deals with the "natural world" and religion concerns everything that acts against or in spite of that natural worldt. For example: Within the limits of science, we find the earth to be 6.whatever billion years old. Maybe the earth IS only 6kya; but science would never tell us that. Something would have to act against those natural "laws" in order to make that true, and that's restricted to the realm of religion. Either way those creationsci ideas are hokie, cuz the Bible/other religious texts weren't written by scientists. Even if they were they would probably still be wrong as we see them today. I think we've come to a consensus that the brain, not the heart, does all the thinking, right?

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

The Earth is 4.5 billion years old.

Ya I wasn't considering specifics there. That's a number I should know anyway.
