Had been wanting to try it for a while now,
dark and subtle roasted malts kinda like a stout but great fruity hops and just a tad bitter like a good ipa.
great combination great beer.
I drank that at Taco Mac but I was high so it tasted different. Haha.
They just released that beer in 4 packs recently.

Yeah it wasn't fermenting I think my liquid yeast was dead so after 4 days of nothing, I got some Nottingham dry yeast and it had a huge krausen on top for 4 days and now it's back to just some bubbles at the top. Gonna bottle a week from Wednesday.
My OG was 1.050.
And in other beer news, I went to Kentucky this weekend and got:
3 Floyds Alpha King (on tap...amazing)
3 Floyds Robert the Bruce Scotch Ale
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
Gonna pick up some Schlafly Pumpkin tomorrow.

I'm curious about the Schlafly. Give a review.
Have you ever seen any 3 Floyds for sale in ATL?
Yesterday I had a Terrapin pumpkin. It was OK. Nothing to write home about. Then I had a Green Flash West Coast IPA, I think it was called. Ugh. Way to dry and hoppy for me. That shit was almost painful to drink. The bartender even said it was much more mild than the Green Flash Red Rye. Not my thing.
Saturday, I had everything known to mankind at the El Myr. Been a looong time since I had one of those days.

Ah, i miss those days...
I love overly hoppy IPAs. I miss them too.

When I ordered that Green Flash, I asked the bartender for a glass of water, too. She said, "Yeah, you're gonna need it with that one." I shoulda known better...That ain't my thing.
I also went to the Oak Grove Growler Nation this weekend and picked up halves of Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan and Lagunita Lil Sumptin Wild. I've only tried the Lazy Magnolia and wasn't too impressed. Just seemed like a run of the mill brown beer. I'm hoping for more from the Wild.
I'm not sure how I feel about these growlers and how (don't?) maintain carbonation.

I think you and I have the exact opposite taste in beer.
I love the Terrapin Pumpkinfest, but I tried the Shipyard Pumpkinhead (which I seem to recall being a favorite of yours) and I didn't really dig it. It was okay...just way too light.
And while I haven't tried the West Coast IPA, I absolutely LOVE the Hop Head Red.
I think you and IPAs are about like me with wheat beers. ...Pass.
I think we totally agree on stouts though. haha

Growlers only maintain enough carbonation after they're sealed to be stored for two or three days. After opening one, if you re-seal it, the beer isn't going to be drinkable after 24 hours or so.
That's my experience, anyway.
Thanks,
SBG

Will do.
Nope...not distributed here. That's why I got some. Schlafly is not distributed here either. I'm in Tennessee right now.

Sounds exactly right. I love the Shipyard because it's so light. I also like the heavier pumpkin beers on draft like Southern Tier and Weyerbacker.
I do love the hell out of some good wheat beers!
Yep, we may not see eye to eye on most politics and beer, but we can meet up on guns and stouts. That's good enough for me!

Yeah, the guy at the shop claimed that my half-filled 1/2 gallons (
they were sold out of regular half sized bottles) would hold for a week and half. I don't think that's the case in reality. I opened the Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Saturday night and had a glass. Last night I had the other imperial pint plus out of it and it was flat-ish. That wasn't terrible as that beer is basically a milder Newcastle so it doesn't need heavy carbonation. I'm wondering how the Lagunitas Lil Sumpin' Wild will be when I get around to it.

I recently tried New Holland's Dragon Milk oak barrel aged ale. At 10% it was boozy as hell. It kind of tasted like what I would imagine chocolate milk with a shot of bourbon would taste like. It was OK for the few ounces I had.
Apparently, the kegs it's aged in are old Heaven Hill casks. In 9th grade my friends and I used to scrape up $5 for a fifth of that everyday after school. I shudder to think what it would taste like to me now that I'm down with Jeffersons, Woodfords, etc...

While in TN over the weekend, I picked up a few jars of the new Popcorn Sutton XXX moonshine whiskey in numbered, tape sealed jars. It's firey as hell, but very nice with a cube of ice to soften it up. I hope this stuff gets sold down here, soon.
Not my jar, but a good enough pic:

I wanted to try that but I hate boozy beers. Might get a single instead of a 4 pack if I ever try it.
I've recently had:
Schlafly Tasmanian IPA (delicious)
Lagunitas Maximus IPA (very good)
Lagunitas Brown Shugga (very good but more like a sweet double IPA...could barely taste the brown sugar. Not what I was expecting)
My homebrewed beer is decent but nothing to get excited about. At least it's drinkable.

About $25 a jar. Not too bad. It's tasty as hell in just the way that very good shine should be.
