Going back a few weeks on my last.fm, it looks like I've been not been spinning much metal as of late. Not sure why... Anway, feel free to just ignore all of this.

Yacht Club - "Flash" single and everything else on their bandcamp page. A friend described it like this, "Ben Cook of Fucked Up fame doing 80s synth pop/duran duran style stuff. Pretty accurate. Like the soundtrack to some 80s coke flick." This band has the sound down for sure. I like that they have a nice WHAM! reference in in the song title, "Tropicana." It's good to show respect. I like this a lot and hope that the songwriting gets as strong as the dedication to creating authentic 80s pop tone. I hate the name Yacht Club, though. It seems misleading and I thought that trend was played out. Guess not...

In addition to a continuing obsession with all things WEEP related...(Have you checked them out yet, Odinson?)

Maserati - VII
For everyone on here that likes the ethereal soundtrack-esque, Tangerine Dream/Goblin sound, you MUST check out this band and album. It's the best modern take that I've heard on this style. I can't stop listening to it. Makes me wish I still did (real) drugs. It's also brilliant driving music.

Enslaved- Riitiir
Good for the background. Not particularly compelling for concentrated listening.

Depeche Mode - Speak and Spell
I like this band way more as a synthpop band than as a dark industrial-lite thing.

Southern Death Cult
I like this band way, waaaay more as a deathrock band than as a non-threatening rock n roll-lite thing.

Darkthrone - Plagueweilder

Cure - Faith

Bellrays - all

Fun Boy Three - Something Really Happened

UK Subs - Punk Singles Collection

Bauhaus - all

Vitamin X - About to Crack

ELO - greatest hits thing

Fanny - First Time in a Long Time
This band deserved so much more credit than they ever got. Just really good rock n' roll that was pretty much totally overlooked by history. Shame...

Dum Dum Girls - various
Not sure how I feel about them overall yet, but that track He Gets Me High is pretty addictive.

Giuda - Racey Roller
This is total throwback early 70s glam rock about girls and football and shit like that very, very fucking good. If you dig anything like Slade or Sweet get on this.

P!nk - The Truth About Love
Yeah, I like the shit outta some pop music.

Mercyful Fate - all the early stuff

Spellcaster - Under the Spell
Really reminds me of mid-80s proto-thrash like early Savatage or Nasty Savage. Pretty fucking good. Anyone know anything about this band?

Libertines - Up the Bracket

Prima Donna - Bless this Mess
Good, garagey, but not ironic rock n' roll.

Biters - It's OK to Like Biters
I love how they synthesize Tom Petty, Thin Lizzy, Exploding Hearts, Runaways, Rick Springfield, Lynyrd Skynyrd into clever, unique little power pop gems. I really hope these dudes blow up.

Cold Cave - Cherish the Light Years and some other tracks
Very good darkwave throwback without the cheese factor that is way too common nowadays.

Divine Fits - A Thing Called Divine Fits
More dancey/wavey stuff

Fields of the Nephilim - Elysium
Perfect dark gothic rock.

Deathhammer - Onward to the Pits
I love the shit outta this death thrash blitzkrieg! One of the best of this wavey.

Boz Scaggs - My Time
I never gave this guy much time before. Some is just way to Adult Contemporary and some is pretty killer singer-songwriter jams.

Bellicose Minds
Newish deathrock stuff from PDX. I need to track down hard copies. And see these kids live.

Placebo, Chapterhouse, Kitchens of Distinction, Pistons, Oi Polloi, Nancy Boy - various tracks

Madness – The Liberty Of Norton Folgate
Not quite sure why this was frequently referenced as their best thing ever. It's not bad, but it also didn't make a major impact on first listen. I need to check out the new one.

Taxi - Like a Dog
Some of the same guys from Giuda doing a similar thing, but not quite as perfect as Giuda.

The Hollies - various greatest hits type things

King Dude - Love

Monstrosity - In Dark Purity

The Damned - Grave Disorder and Phantasmagoria
Both, but especially Phantas...a LOT!

Fear Cult - Visionary Complex
Eh...

World/Inferno Friendship Society - various

Hell Comes to Your House comp

Alien Sex Fiend, Specimen - lots, various and mixed

Rudi Peni - Death Church and The EPs of RP
"God created the devil? At least he did *something* cool." Homer J. Simpson

I fucking love Phantasmagoria. Somehow acquired it in mid high school and I punished the shit out of that CD. Street of Dreams is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

I'm pretty sure Chris is going to this show if you're interested. I will not be in attendance.

Was never able to get into the whole '77 explosion, but that one is a favorite of mine as well. Anything is a close second.

Venom -- Metal Black. Meh.
Venom -- Welcome to Hell. Because Metal Black was so underwhelming.
Taake -- Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik. And, yes: I did have to look up the title.
Skeletonwitch -- Breathing the Fire. I hadn't listened to this one before.
Burzum -- Aske
Marduk -- Heaven Shall Burn ... When We are Gathered
Death -- Scream Bloody Gore
