My expectations for this were pretty much at sea level, if that, but I'm surprised at how much I keep returning to it. The Ken Hensley Hammond B3 sound was ... unanticipated, and the songs that sound like Rammstein are better than one would think when faced with the words "Gorgoroth meets Rammstein." Whether I'll give a shit about this album in, say, a month, I have no idea.

Currently I'm cheating on WREKage and listening to a metal show on WKNC. It isn't vastly different as far as the selection goes, and they also seem to do metal on Thursday nights. Pardon the blasphemy. http://wknc.org/schedule/ Look for blood red blocks.

Was never able to get into the whole '77 explosion, but that one is a favorite of mine as well. Anything is a close second.
Their cover of "Eloise" that was released around the same time as Phantasmagoria is definitely worth digging up if you dig that era of the Damned. You might want to check into Strawberries, too. That's a pretty rad, but frequently overlooked album.

I love the 77 Brit stuff, but the Damned is at a whole different level than most of that genre. They've pretty much never made a wrong turn. Some releases are more compelling than others, but all are pretty decent. Maybe that's because David Vanian could sing the phone book and it would still sound amazing. They really need to come back. I don't think I've seen them live since Halloween in NYC about 12 years ago.

It's a killer lil 37 minutes. It's my introduction to Drumm too--I have yet to expose myself to Sheer Hellish Miasma.

The Piano Tribute to Iron Maiden. Somebody posted it on I_LOVE_ZUCKERPENIS. It's amusing and good at the same time.

How do you like this? I've been pretty underwhelmed by any God Seed I've heard.

The short version is not for everyone and I will end up hearing it more when my iPod is on shuffle than returning to it on its own

Thanks. I'll dig through that. I liked that one song that some version of Kagan posted more than I expected to.

After reading that review I'll DL that album and give it a spin. I don't expect it to really catch me, but it sounds like it deserves a chance. I'm not a huge Gorgoroth fan, either, but they hit the occasional triple.
