Nachtmystium - Silencing Machine
I love the shit out of this band. Each album is a little better than the last, but I do wish that they would keep adding more of the weird dancey vibe that they had on Addicts: Black Meddle, Part II. Maybe I'm alone in that, but I was amazed at how well that worked.

First original recordings by this Anti-Heros tribute(?) band.

Indie Poppy stuff. Female vocals. OK. Needs more spins to fully digest.

Very ambient. It's good, but very passive. Probably best for nodding out to.
Cruel Hand - various tracks
I had ignored this band because for some dumb reason I thought it was doomy and doom stuff rarely does much for me. Instead, this has a modern crossover vibe without sounding too metalcore. Kinda sounds like the soundtrack to a Vans commercial. I have the feeling that I'll forget about this soon enough. Still, I'll try to remember to spin it again and see if it sticks.
Tubeway Army - various
Such a great band and so underrated in the grand scheme of things. Totally sucks that to most people Gary Numan is a punchline - if he's anything at all.
Bowie - Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane

If you check out any of the New Wave of Deathrock that I've repped, make it this one. Really dark and catchy.

There's a recent video on metalsucks.com with Di'Anno calling Bruce and fag and saying his operatic vocals are "too easy." Poor dude...

Sucks having missed them and Cult of Youth. Bad weekend to be on the road.
Acid Witch - Stoned and Witchtankic HellucinationsI love this band like a big heavy death metal(?) blanket. It always sounds good and hits the spot.
Kreator - Hordes of ChaosI know it's heresy, but I do believe this is the best, most catchy, thrashing album they've ever done. That's in no small part due to the fact that they tracked it all live, save for the vocals and leads. It just sounds firey.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Last of a Dyin' Breed
I heard the title song done live on some late night talk show and it killed. Not so much on the studio version, but it could be far worse. I love that Rickey from Blackfoot is back with them.
Lily Allen - Smile
Been a while. I still love that record.
Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction I loved this album for nearly twenty years I had no idea that this was a joke. Now, that's parody done perfect!
Plasmatics - No Hope for the Wretched, Metal Priestess, Beyond the Valley of 1984 and Coup d'Etat
I seriously like this band and their m.o. more and more the older I get.

And when I'm stuck just in my New Wave of Deathrock mode, here's what I've been spinning for the last month or so:
WEEP - Far and away the best thing that I’ve heard in…ages...and then some. They aren't quite deathrock, but they definitely have roots in that style. Anything and everything they've done has been outstanding, but the Worn Thin album is one of those records that the first time I played it I knew I'd be listening to it for decades to come.
BELLICOSE MINDS and MORAL HEX are young bands from the PDX area, I think. Both have a dark punk rock sound with MH leaning more towards the anarcho deathrock sound like Rudi Peni.
AVANT! RECORDS is Italy based, I think, and they boast two of my current favorites, NIGHT SINS (Thanks for the tip on this band, Brian!) and HORROR VACUI. Both have big, thick production levels and really make the most of their sound. I especially like HV, but NS aren't shoddy in the least. Both bands come from the BAUHAUS line with a touch more punk intensity. NATURAL ASSEMBLY is a bit more industrial and stark in its presentation. I'm sure there is way more on AVANT! worth digging into.

COLD IN BERLIN – Female vocals and good, dark, catchy danceable stuff.
DEKODER – Similar to the above, but a little more basic.
SPECTRES - The one from Vancouver. I really like this kind of deathrock and would love to find a few other people who want to play this kind of simple, punk sound. Good starter stuff, if you’ve never been down with the genre.
LOST TRIBE – The one with the black and white covers. See SPECTRES above. Very similar sound, but doesn’t catch me quite the same way as SPECTRES. I’ve still played it a lot.
AGNOSTIC PRAY – This reminds me a lot of when TSOL got dark. Very good.
BLESSURE GRAVE - Also a bit like TSOL.
CEMETERY GIRLZ – See the two above, but with a bit more dance vibe.
MORADIN - This leans to the folk side of things and might be more appealing to straight up metalheads.
:WUMPSCUT – I don’t know what the fuck this is, but some of it would mix well with the rest of this list.
ANASAZI - A bit world music-ish, like Dead Can Dance, but not really – if that makes any sense.

Bandcamp has been a great way to check out these bands that haven’t made it onto Spotify and are really hard to track down. Both Bandcamp and Spotify can searched by band or by label and it can take a bit of digging to find what you are looking for. I guess there are still bugs to be worked out - especially when using bandcamp.com and the bandcamper app (Which is really badass!) – but, in a way, that's kind of cool. It reminds me a little bit of the old days of hunting and digging to find weird shit I wanted to check out.
Oh, and if you have any question about if you've found the right band, look for the one with the black and white cover. Heh.

I hate remixes. Leave those songs alone. They were written that way because the artist wanted it to sound that way. Remixes ruin songs. This goes for all genres, even nine inch nails and pop songs. Remixing a song makes it sound like the artist ran out of ideas and had to fill up space on an album. I hate it. I really really hate it. GODDAMMIT!
