I don't hate them that much, but it's not like I love them that much either.

Eh... I don't know if that's necessarily true. I don't think that most "post-metal" bands today play post-metal because they want to totally transcend the metal genre, I'm sure they just play it because they like it and it's what comes naturally to them. (Also, it's the fans that coined the name, not the bands; from what I've heard, a lot of those bands don't even like the label "post-metal") I could be wrong, though; it's just that your statement was a bit of a sweeping generalization.
Yeah, sure, it was a sweeping generalization, but one that applied to "bands," not "most." I definitely do believe that a lot of smartypants need to dress up their "metal" so that it is "elevated" in their minds into "art" so that they can see what they do as "meaningful" and separated from the base stylings of Manowar. (cough, Liturgy, cough...) Others just play whatever they want. It just happens to not be my bag.

Honestly, I don't care in the least what kind of music anyone wants to make. It's kind of bummer when folks look down on what paved the way for them, but it doesn't affect me in any manner. I know that there are genres that, for the most part, do nothing for me, so I just skip them. No harm, no foul.

'Zactly. And that's what makes it fun to talk about.

I really really like Souls At Zero. It doesn't have that post-metal sound I think being referred to here. Actually it's the only one I really like.

Through Silver In Blood is good too but for some reason it never really clicked with me. Times of Grace has some good stuff too, but it dwells more into the sound they have now.

Turnout was pretty good actually Maybe 600 or so folks there? Good show as well. I missed USX, but Primate sounded good, Rwake definitely melted some face, and while I was only familiar with a couple of the tracks Neurosis played, I was definitely enthralled by their set.
