Of course there is more diversity here in the US, but...

Classic American Death Metal vs Classic UK Death Metal?

There is way more death metal in the US I think, but Its really hard to beat out Bolt Thrower, Carcass, and Napalm Death's Harmony Corruption. Heavily classic stuff. I'd put those up against classic Morbid Angel, Deicide, and Suffocation any day.

I'd say it's not hard at all and I'm not even a huge Deicide fan. Suffocation has more mediocre than great too. Gimme Morbid Angel, Immolation, Incantation, Possessed, Revenant, Baphomet, Rottrevore, etc over BT, Carcass, and ND any day.

While Carcass, BT, and ND all rule I prefer their grindcore output to their death metal output.

The only Suffocation album I like is their live one. And I love that one - one of my favorites.

TOMB OF THE MUTILATED, I was scared at 11 when they were in Ace Ventura. It has everything pivotal for death metal, Barnes best vocal performance, last record with the original line up, amazing art and lyrics. I busted that record back out after this last show when they played Addicted To Vaginal Flesh, it was amazing. Not to mention that pound for pound Cannibal Corpse has the longest and most legit discography and bad fucking ass concerts. Morbid Angel are washed up posers, and if you look at it they always have been. The swedes were just emulating what the Americans were doing. That's what I say at least, and black metal is far superior to death metal.

This should have said "The swedes were just trying to emulate what Slayer did", haha. I love swedish death metal, I just see it more like melodic thrash or in the same vein as doom bands, but fast. The 90's swedish guitar tone is my favorite. It's not very death metal sounding, to me. Neither is Death, and I fucking love Death. They became more and more progressive and classic and their stuff is too sacred to be lumped in the death metal category.
