I deactivated it for who knows how long. I was going insane by the constant inundation of people's stupid opinions, and I'm too mean for I_LOVE_ZUCKERPENIS. There's slightly less stupid opinions over here.theRothstanator wrote:Thanks, dude. BTW, did you get rid of your I_LOVE_ZUCKERPENIS? Alrighty, minus that creepy bully douchbaggery moment that happened on this thread...
This year was very excellent! Though there are some minus moments at DC, the rest was awesome. Met tons of good friends, got alot of pics (none are creepy mind you), drinks with my pals, and a blast at the night events. Im sadden I forgot about the Night Breed premiere movie, but that's okay. Everything else ruled. Pictures coming soon.
Plus, neat surprise Karl showed up to party with us!

2 minor semantic points:
"Common decency" is a completely subjective concept...and the concept kinda flies in the very face of "being metal". Could think of tons of straw men here, but lets just say that many of the people on this forum perform an affront to "common decency" of our current societal norms just by walking out of their houses looking as they see fit. So as long as its nothing illegal (minors, etc) I don't see a problem with someone being a little pervy for those who didn't choose to attend. If we cared about "common decency" most of us would detest Norwegian black metal as that's what a lot of it is written/performed to do: OFFEND
Waivers exist so that images are not used to advertise or sell something the photographee does not agree to have their likeness used for. Some dude taking pictures of specific regions of people dressed how they chose to dress...this would be tough to enforce...
*sorry Sara, sometimes I just like to debate and play devils advocate

Kind of pervy? Yes. Problematic? Not really. A distance shot of some chick's butt blatabtly and purposefully on display at a convention that celebrates slutty costumes year after year after year is far from an affront to common decency. Its party sleaze, its maybe a bit impolite, but im sorry i dont feel an ounce of obligation to defend and hide ass cheeks that were being flaunted about for 4 straight days. If you don't want people gawking at your exposed flesh, you probably wouldn't have decided to dress as Leloo Dallas- even if it was for sheer love of the character she has other costumes that dont involve a plethora of butt and underboob. This is not the same as "she was asking for it by dressing that way", as photographs at a convention are pretty fucking far from molestation or rape.

holy fuckin shit, what did I do?!
Well, glad everyone had a good time, maybe I'll make it one of these years (I did make it one day last year...it was the same day I graduated OTS actually haha)
I have to admit, those pictures made me laugh...the following comments did not. They were rude and uncalled for. Comments like that should be made face to face, not on the internet. That's pretty weak.
As for girls looking like whores, I'm on the fence about girls dressing slutty. If they want to then go for it...they should realize pictures like the ones posted here may be taken.
Me personally, I've never been a big fan of dressing slutty, even if it is a costume. I worked at Netherworld for 6 years and some of the girls there loved wearing slutty costumes. My thought process was, this is a haunted house and we're supposed to be scary, not sexy. End result was I always looked fucking disgusting, hair was a mess and I can honestly say I scared the piss out of people, made them pass out and even sent one on her way in an ambulance.
Yeah, I had no interest in trying to be a pretty monster. Fuck that noise.
Also, I won the sexiest costume award at a club once. The skirt was short so I was showing alot of leg but that was it. No boobs or anything else. I even had shorts under the skirt incase the skirt flipped up. I thought that was cool because some of the girls I won over looked like goddamn whores and didn't even try making their costumes look cool.

They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
Cosplayers make these costumes as an artistic approach of dedicating their lives and talent of dressing up like their favorite characters from either their favorite media (comics, videos games, films, etc) or from their own imagination. I never refer to costumes that are revealing as "slutty" (it's a such a strong word for someone who is not a "slut"). I see it as fantastic work they did on themselves to be like their favorite characters. Looking pretty/beautiful/gorgeous/excellent? Hell yea! Looking like sluts/whores? Hell no! You go to strip clubs or the red light district if your looking for those who dress sluttier.
My sisters has been cosplaying for more than ten years at Dragon Con. While it does worry me some brain-dead whoopin' 'n hollerin' ape would think of them as "sluts" because they are "dressed that way" (or do something more worse like inappropriate questions/comments or unwelcome touchings), they are, however, doing the cosplay out of artistic expression of their achievement by being very creative. Plus, they can handle themselves against the drooling apes and stuck-up dorks.
I would hate to be in the shoes of those who think small clothes = whores, because then I would get restraining orders from every convention and beaches. It's a good thing Dragon Con this year and from here on out will clamp down on shenanigans like this.
Pictures coming soon on by FB soon!

@Jager - I know...some of their costumes did look cool. I've seen so many women though who use costumes as an excuse to look like sluts...and they don't even look cool or are of any characters at all. Also, I've just never been one to show off alot. Call me modest.
