Black Sabbath -- Live eviL. Been giving this some listens, as the little man likes "Children of the Sea", so I thought I'd play another version for him.
I have to say, Vinnie Appice pretty much mangles Bill Ward's drum lines: too much flowery stuff added. But that guitar tone is absolutely killer.

Odd, because I feel like this is their least Dissected album, all the Nodtveidtisms traded for Bon Jovisms and Kilmisterisms and I don't even know what other isms. It's so so bad, and this is coming from someone who loves at least two Watain albums, CL and SttD.Knucklehead wrote:Watain -- The Wild Hunt. Okay, okay, okay. I'll finally concede that there is too much Dissection going on.
In that first ballad, I keep waiting to hear Richie Sambora go, "WAAAAANT-EH-EHD" in the background.
The new Zemial, on the other hand, is out of this world. Add trippy prog to mid-period Absu and submerge it in grand Greek theatricality and you have another addition to my top ten of the year. Soon as I can decide how badly I want to trash my bank account, I'll be raiding Hells Headbangers.

I've been wondering about this one. It is definitely a unique band that can put out five great records.Ryan wrote:Skeletonwitch - Serpents Unleashed (just can't get into this, though it's not bad)

It's not bad by any means, I think it's more that it's just not what I'm really interested in hearing anymore. Beyond the Permafrost is a fantastic record but a lot of what made it so killer was the really cold atmosphere they were able to capture on that record and, unfortunately, they ditched that aesthetic and have kinda gone to an undefined generic "metal" vibe on subsequent stuff, especially after Breathing the Fire.Knucklehead wrote:I've been wondering about this one.
