Only just now catching up on talked-about stuff from over the year.
Bolzer - Aura (jesus!)
Abyssal - something in Latin
Grave Miasma - ditto
Zemial - Nykta (sadly wore out its welcome quickly)
Thou Art Lord - Regal Pulse of Lucifer
Beyond - Fatal Power of Death (amazing if you're looking for an even higher velocity, chaotic version of Angelcorpse. And they have loads of catchy refrains!)
Also, just finished a 2001 book about punk/indie rock called Our Band Could Be Your Life, so I've been filling my head with Fugazi, Minutemen, Big Black, Mudhoney, and Husker Du. Unexpected but probably necessary. With the exception of Fugazi I sort of zipped right by all this music when it was happening. By the time I caught on to "indie rock," it was, like, Guided by Voices, Afghan Whigs, and Ween -- awesome in their own right, though.
Likewise thanks to that book I learned of Pailhead, the brief 1988 collaboration between Al Jourgensen and Ian Mackaye. Wicked.

Yeah, they do. I love that band. So dark and rockin' at the same time. Right up my alley.Diana wrote:Satan's Wrath - Aeons of Satan's Reign
Satan's Wrath kicks ass.
This week has been some throwback via shit like Bulimia Banquet and Aspirin Feast and, thanks to Odinson666 I've been wearing out the 0s and 1s on Climax by Beastmilk. I really hate that band's name, but love the album. Top shelf stuff. I went to score the LP, but the $52 pre-order for the Svart Records release on Amazon put me off it. Ugh. I can't wait for a US-based option. I know this album will sound amazing on vinyl.
I've also had a strange obsession with Blondie's The Hunter album for the past month along with a return to Armed Love by The (International) Noise Conspiracy, one of my single all time favorite records.
I cranked Carry On's A Life Less Plagued and In Solitude's Sister on my way into work. Oh, and Cruel Hand's Prying Eyes has been in steady rotation.
