hehe sorry couldn't help it :P

BTW, Xeroderma and presumably the other local opener ended up playing downstairs as the Masq's website indicated. In fact, I heard Xeroderma played twice, once before CC, and once afterward. :)

Hate Eternal has sounded so muddy to me each time I've seen them in the past, but their mix was great last night. Only the backing vocals got a little bit lost. I almost think the Masq has been quieting down the sound in general lately. Unless I'm just imagining that, I think it's a bit of an improvement. And Cannibal Corpse always delivers. I do not get tired of that band...don't care what anyone says. Xeroderma did play twice in Purgatory. Once just before Cannibal Corpse and a couple of songs just after.

I was right in front and still couldn't really hear the backing vocalist for Hate Eternal.

I was incredibly impressed with Unearth(i thought they'd be mediocre), and Cannibal Corpse was worth every fucking cent. Didn't see the knocked out girl, but i did hang around a couple of girls that mixed it up in the pit the entire time CC played, and someone broke my belt trying to get up. Annoying, but shit happens. I'm glad they played more tracks from Kill this time around...

Stuck around to the end of Hatebreed's set, and to quote a friend of mine who went with me, i respect to the fullest what they do, but it's not something that's normally my thing. I get why they have a huge fanbase, and that guitarist Wayne is awesome, but i'm not a chant kind of guy...

@Gene - that guy was a fucking moron. He was also the one who was yelling to Corpsegrinder to say we need a moshpit or something like that.

@Tommy - you're probably going deaf :wink:
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Yeah, that was the best sound I've heard from Hate Eternal from a long while. I was actually interested and entertained by their set for the first time in a while.

We didn't get Devoured By Vermin or A Skull Full of Maggots, but we did get Fucked With a Knife and Vomit The Soul. I haven't seen Cannibal Corpse for a few years, and I was surprised to see I still enjoyed their show.

Haha she's not my girlfriend, and yeah she and her bf left early into Cannibal's set because she wasn't feeling well.

I've noticed the sound thing too, Tommy. I like it better this way tbh.

Here is a good example of a sentence you'd only hear among metalheads.

...hopefully.

LOL, beat me to it.

I could see a character saying this on Metalocalypse...giving savvy viewers a little CC shout-out. :) (They've done that a few times before... "Dead Skin Mask!" )

Well finally getting around to my review, been busy working. Got there not to early and in time for Hate Eternal. Got right in front of Erik Rutan to watch his expertise on guitar. The sound was excellent but the bass player vocals were spotty. Was my first time seeing them and they did not dissapoint. The new drummer filled in nicely. Next came Born Of Osirius.....Next came Unearth.....In between was chatting and drinking with the regulars and having a good time. Was coming back from outside and lost Diana, sorry. I had to bail and make it to the rail for the Corpse! Third time seeing them and this was the best. Oh and there was quite a crowd for tonight probably because of the diverse bill. It might have been sold out or close to it. Their setlist was good and spread out with a lot of classics and a few new tunes. Got a hand on a drumstick but it bounced off! Stayed up front for Hatebreed which is who I wanted to see! I know people hate them but I am a hardcore freak! They played with tons of energy and Jamey is a great frontman getting the crowd going. Guitar players were great also. Only got hit in the head once with a crowd surfer. I was banging hard on the rail most of the show. Managed to get the setlist and had it signed at the meet and greet.

Had a great time! Here are a few pic's with my new camera finally. Diana, that pic of you and Tommy had no flash. I think I know how to work this now, hahahaha!

I agree with that. I was really impressed with his stage presence.
