This is a good point, but, they're both from the Black Circle era Norway. So I voted...and I voted for Immortal. I have a deep respect for Emeror's In The Nightside Eclipse, but I think I just personally like Immortal better. Battles In The North, Damned In Black, Sons of Northern Darkness and the new one are pretty fucking awesome. I did'nt care for the solo Ishahn stuff. Perhaps things would be differant if Bard had'nt gone to jail after the first album, In The Nightside Eclipse rules so hard.DeathfareDevil wrote:I'm perplexed by this. These two bands are so different from each other, and seem to have such divergent ideas of black metal, that I can't really choose one over the other.
I'd say that I like both bands equally but I think that IX Equilibrium was the best album that either ever put out so I'll have to vote for Emperor.
I have never compared them though. I have pretty much seen them as equals b/c they are both so important but so different.......honestly its like comparing Metallica and Slayer to me.

yeah seriouslyDeathfareDevil wrote:I'm perplexed by this. These two bands are so different from each other, and seem to have such divergent ideas of black metal, that I can't really choose one over the other. Rather than "boxers vs. briefs," this is more like "boxers vs. ... hats."
I boycott your poll, sir!
it says we'll settle this once and for all but I never knew this was anything to settle
I mean Megadeth/Metallica or something like that would make a lot more sense

Cool, I was going to ask what albums the people who voted Immortal were thinking of.Azrael wrote:This is a good point, but, they're both from the Black Circle era Norway. I thought At The Heart of Winter was alright, nothing special. When I heard Battles In The North I was expecting to be blown away but again, it was just alright. I really like Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk, and I like Nightside Eclipse so I went with Emperor.
