Local bands have kinda stopped sending stuff. Most everything I have is from bands that popped up over the past 2-3 years I found/bought myself. There are exceptions...LTNR and Wolves & Jackals come to mind, but yeah.

Not sure why free airtime blasted across a 5,000,000+ resident metro area at 40,000 watts on a weekly basis to eager listeners would be ignored, but I somehow figured that was the case.

And it's not just local bands, either; most labels have sharply cut back on their promo distribution and/or have switched to often-annoying online file distro.

Right, but they still send stuff...just through a different format. It's not limited to metal, either. Most labels have switched to that bullshit. It sucks, but at least they still try to get their stuff heard.
