Ah, that hit the spot, thanks! Just the sort of thing I was looking for. Love that guitar sound.

YMMV.
Maybe it's because I listened to this right after the "in-and-out" minute long Weekend Nachos songs, but, despite really digging the riffing and atmosphere, I felt those songs were a little longish -- and I can't believe I've become the sort of person who would say that. Thanks, though! I will be giving it more listens when I'm not feeling so rushed.

I'm ... not sure what to make of that. Thanks for the rec, though; I love Samoth's style, just never thought I'd hear it with that type of singing over it. May take me more time to get past the initial "wait what's going on here" factor. And to your other point, I think one of my issues is that there -is- so much out there that I end up drowning in dreck. I must've lost my nose for sniffing out good metal.

Started watching it once, got distracted or otherwise disinterested -- but one of these days I'll finish it. Thanks for reminding me.

They are that. The bulk of the songs are over 4 minutes.

Which isn't really all that long, when you look back at something like Master of Puppets, where there wasn't a single song under 5 minutes. Funny.

Dude has a huge Sunn rig, the best for sludge crust crossover. Plus super misanthropic lyrics, I love it.

Ravencult - Morbid Blood

They call it Black Thrash which is as good a description as any, I guess. Not breaking any new ground, but I've listened to it about four times and I like it better every time. Goes down smooth.

Pick a new band name though, PLZ & THX.

Abigail Williams - In The Absence of Light. I'm gonna catch hell on here for that, so here's a pre-emptive "fuck yourself, I like it, it's pretty good".

Been listening to Sigur Ros - Von, too. I'm just now getting into this band. Since I'm such a huge sucker for big atmosphere, I like it.

Did you got to that show a month or so back at the EARL?

I was pretty unfamiliar with his shit before the show and dug it well enough, but I don't get the cult like worship of most of the people there. Kinda odd and unique fanbase.

Fucked Up - David's Town and David Comes to Life
Autopsy - Macabre Eternal
In Solitude - The World, The Flesh, The Devil - letdown
Kampfar - Kvass
Lady GaGa - Born this Way

Somehow, I missed this.

Melvins -- Bullhead. IMHO, these are there two best records.
