I can't say I was never a fan. I used to like And Justice For All, damn near played that cassette on my walkman until it turned to dust back when I was in school. Black Album came out back when I was middle school I think. Always thought that was a terrific album, still do I guess. But around maybe 94 or 95 I think it was when Load (of shit) came out, I can remember when they started playing the "Until It Sleeps" single a month or two before the album was released. I remember thinking, "Man... this sounds a little different... I don't think I like where this is going." And yeah, that album was crap. Every album since then has been crap too.GameFreac wrote:I am proud to say I was never a fan.
I watched some thing on VH1Classic a few months ago about the Big 4 tour with Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. At the very end, they called everyone out to a final song, some cover. NO ONE from Slayer joined them on stage. I enjoyed that VERY much. Not the cover, the fact that Slayer was completely absent from the stage. Hopefully they have the good sense not to depress their fans by playing with a bunch of has-been hacks like Metallica and Megadeth. Never was a fan of Anthrax, but I've loathed both Megadeth and Metallica since the mid 90's. Glad as hell to see that Slayer hasn't pussed out in their old age. They've put out shit since the 90's that actually makes their older stuff sound pretty tame. God Hates Us All was an AWESOME album, full of MILES AND MILES of rage. Tom Araya hasn't been able to scream that mean since that album. Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood were both pretty good too, but I always thought that Paul Bostaph was a little more interesting on drums. Lombardo is obviously a great drummer, don't wanna talk shit on him, but Bostaph had a more unique and intricate style I think.
My favorite Bostaph on drums Slayer tune:
